A man fills a basket with eggs in such a way that the number of eggs added on each successive day is the same as the number already present in the basket. This way the basket gets completely filled in 24 days. After how many days the basket was ¼th full?

  1. A.6
  2. B.12
  3. C.17
  4. D.22
▶ Answer & Explanation

Correct answer: D. 22

The problem describes a scenario where the quantity doubles each day. If the basket is full on day 24, it means it was half full on day 23. Working backwards, to reach one-fourth of the capacity, it would take two more days before it was half full. Therefore, the basket would be one-fourth full on day 22.
