India has significant domestic reserves of iron ore, which is a primary raw material for steel production. However, the country lacks sufficient high-quality coking coal, essential for the blast furnace process in steelmaking. Consequently, a substantial portion of coking coal has to be imported to meet the demands of the steel industry.
