The observation of redshift in the light from distant galaxies, indicating that they are moving away from us, is a cornerstone of evidence for an expanding universe. While supernovae are important cosmological tools for measuring distances and expansion rates, they are not direct evidence of expansion itself in the same way as redshift and CMB. Asteroid movement is unrelated to the overall expansion of the universe.
