BirdLife International is indeed a global partnership of non-governmental organizations working in the field of bird conservation and habitat preservation. A key aspect of its work involves identifying and advocating for the protection of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs). The concept of 'biodiversity hotspots', however, was first developed by Norman Myers in the late 1980s and was further refined by Conservation International, not BirdLife International.
