Musk deer are primarily found in the Himalayan region. Askot Wildlife Sanctuary in Uttarakhand and Gangotri National Park, also in Uttarakhand, are known habitats for the musk deer due to their temperate forest and alpine conditions. Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Terai region and is more suited for species like tigers and swamp deer. Manas National Park, while ecologically rich, is situated in the Eastern Himalayas and has a different faunal composition, not typically associated with musk deer populations.
