Guchhi mushrooms, scientifically known as *Morchella esculenta*, are indeed a type of edible fungus. They are highly prized for their unique flavor and medicinal properties. These mushrooms are found in specific ecological niches, particularly in the temperate and subalpine forest regions of the Himalayas, including areas in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu & Kashmir. While they are naturally occurring and harvested by local communities, large-scale commercial cultivation is not yet widespread or established in the Himalayan foothills of north-eastern India.
