Battery storage systems capture and release electricity, biomass generators convert organic matter into energy, fuel cells produce electricity through a chemical reaction, and rooftop solar units generate power directly from sunlight. All these technologies fit the definition of DERs as they are decentralized and can operate independently or in conjunction with the main grid.
