Lebanon and Syria are directly situated on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea, sharing a significant maritime border. Jordan, while geographically close, is landlocked in that region and borders the Dead Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba. Iraq is also landlocked and lies further inland to the east, with no Mediterranean coastline.
