The Nagavali and Vamsadhara rivers originate in the Eastern Ghats and flow eastwards to join the Bay of Bengal. In contrast, the Subarnarekha river originates in the Ranchi Plateau and the Brahmani river is formed by the confluence of the Koel and Sankh rivers, which also have origins outside the main Eastern Ghats range, although they drain through it.
