Lake Faguibine, located in Mali, is situated in the Sahel region, an area prone to desertification. Due to prolonged droughts, increased irrigation, and climate change, the lake has significantly shrunk and in parts dried up, contributing to desert-like conditions in the surrounding area. In contrast, Lake Victoria, Lake Oguta, and Lake Volta are much larger and more stable water bodies.
