The Quit India Movement, launched in August 1942, was characterized by widespread spontaneous protests, strikes, and civil disobedience across India, demonstrating a significant mobilization of various sections of society. While the movement's core principles were non-violence and it was indeed spearheaded by Mahatma Gandhi, it did witness considerable participation from the labour class, who actively joined strikes and protests in major industrial centers, thus refuting the claim that it did not attract them.
