Lord Buddha spent a significant portion of his life and ministry in the kingdoms of Kosala and Magadha. His birthplace, Lumbini, was in the Kosala region, and he achieved enlightenment in Bodh Gaya, which is in Magadha. He also delivered many sermons and established his sangha in these areas. While Gandhara and Avanti were important kingdoms of the period, they were geographically distant from the main events of Buddha's life.
