Mian Tansen, a court musician in Akbar's reign, was renowned for his musical compositions and mastery over Hindustani classical music. While 'Tansen' is often associated with him, it was a title of honor, possibly 'Miyan', and his musical lineage and compositions were deeply rooted in Indian traditions. He is credited with composing Dhrupads, often with devotional themes referencing Hindu deities, and adapting existing Ragas or creating new ones. His songs were indeed composed for his patrons, including Emperor Akbar.
