▶ Answer & Explanation

Correct answer: A. 1 only

The presidential election employs a system of proportional representation where the value of a vote is determined by a formula. For MLAs, the total population of the state divided by the number of elected members in the state assembly, multiplied by 1000, determines the vote value, hence it varies between states. For MPs, each MP's vote is assigned a uniform value, calculated by dividing the total value of votes of all MLAs by the total number of elected MPs, irrespective of whether they belong to Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha.
