GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) is a 2G standard. EDGE (Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution) is an enhancement of GSM, also considered a 2.5G technology. LTE (Long-Term Evolution) is a 4G standard, a successor to GSM/EDGE technologies, and not directly part of the GSM family. DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) is a broadband technology used for internet access over telephone lines, unrelated to mobile wireless technologies like GSM.
