Car radiators are designed to dissipate heat from the engine coolant to the surrounding air. While conduction plays a role in transferring heat through the radiator material, the primary mechanism for heat transfer from the coolant to the air, and then away from the radiator, is convection. The coolant circulates, carrying heat to the radiator, where it is then transferred to the air flowing through the fins, carrying the heat away.
